hmm lets c.....im going to NS(National Service.....enlisted in the police force) in 19 days time....for my non-Singaporean netizens tat means every Singaporean male over the age of 16 to 21 must serve a mandatory period of 2 years(24 months) in various positions in the 5 defence sectors (army, navy, police, air force, civil defence or in other words the firefighting brigade) within the age limit of 21 years of age.....the reasoning for this?

Singapore is a small country and only we can defend it being an island nation and we lack manpower.....so we do it.....there is a lot of controversy regarding this topic and some of them are:
-NS men are cheep labor for the government (NS men are given and allowance from as little as $400 and not get paid $1500 unlike civil servants ) since employees of the government use NS men to do their bidding....
-NS men are psychologically conditioned to feel, act, see and think in a certain way that is of benefit to the investments of the government and the economy and to learn to conform and obey to the social norms set by the government, thereby having a major impact on each and every individual male's values, beliefs and personality-(maybe a reason y women think all guys are the same?? LOL joke! joke!) in a 1 party ruling system used in governance in the field of politics in singapore so as to secure a vote being conditioned as to which political party to vote for and so on.....
-NS men are cruelly treated and are denied human rights LOL
-NS men must labor for Singapore while foreigners who got Singapore citizenship need not
-and many many more absurd rumors
